Toddler Tuesday: A "Little" Goose Humor

(W9PDAXGQFA3X)

What do young geese suffer from?

Goose pimples!!!

What is the funniest thing that your little ones say or do?  Over the past few months, Brother Goose's sense of humor has really started to shine through.  He's picked up on his daddy's whit and is able to use it at the right times.  Daddy Goose has one of those infectious personalities that draws you to him.  He is always whistling, always has a smile on his face and can pretty much make anyone laugh at the drop of a hat.  Its one of the reasons I fell in love with him and one of the reasons he is such a great dad.  Brother Goose is making him proud.  He walks around strutting his rough and tough look...until you catch his eye and then he (and you) can't help but smile and giggle.

It's hard to type exact examples, because they are generally "you had to be there" kind of moments. But, I know you're thinking of all of your Brother Goose fun moments and/or those types of moments you've shared with your little ones.  It's this type of thing that makes parenting less of a job and more of a joy.

A sense of humor isn't one of those things you can teach a child, however most of the time funny words and actions just come naturally to children. We want to encourage Brother Goose and his funny bone, but also want to be sure he uses his humor at the appropriate times and in the appropriate way.  Finding and defending that fine line is going to be a challenge.

Being funny and having a sense of humor isn't just a fun way to live life.  According to KidsHealth.org, a sense of humor is a tool that kids can rely on throughout life to help them:

  • see things from many perspectives other than the most obvious
  • be spontaneous
  • grasp unconventional ideas or ways of thinking
  • see beyond the surface of things
  • enjoy and participate in the playful aspects of life
  • not take themselves too seriously

I was happy to find the article on a child's sense of humor which made me even more excited to help Brother Goose show off his humor.  What are some ways that you encourage fun in your home?
